Espresso a mano - 5 Points Bakery: A Cozy Corner of Coffee and Pastries in Pittsburgh

Nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh, Espresso a mano - 5 Points Bakery at 6524 Wilkins Ave is much more than just a cafe—it’s a beloved local gem. This charming spot invites you to indulge in the best coffee and freshly baked pastries, making it a perfect pit stop for both locals and travelers alike.

As you walk through the door, the rich aroma of roasting coffee beans envelops you, signaling that you're in for a treat. Customers rave about the sensational espresso, crafted with beans roasted in-house, setting the stage for a caffeine experience that's hard to match in Pittsburgh. Joan Melendez aptly summarizes this sentiment: “Best espresso and now they're roasting their beans! Yummy!!!!” It’s a perfect boost to start your drive down to Philadelphia or a leisurely morning stroll.

But that’s not all! The bakery is renowned for its delicious pastries, which are baked fresh daily right on the premises. Bernadette Harris praises the overall selection, saying, “Pastries are wonderful.” From flaky croissants to decadent tarts, every bite is a delightful explosion of flavor that transports you to pastry paradise. With savory sandwich options available at lunch, there’s something to satisfy every palate.

The atmosphere at Espresso a mano is warm and inviting, a perfect sanctuary for remote work or simply catching up with friends over coffee. Patrizia R. says, “Oh man the amount of pastry they have is incredible,” highlighting the visual and aromatic feast that awaits you as you step inside. While she mentioned potential room for improvement in the ambiance, the sheer delight of the offerings makes it an easy overlook.

Parking is relatively easy to find on the street, so you won’t have to stress about your visit. Just be mindful not to block the neighbors' garages, as Jeffrey Bigham’s experience humorously reminds us! This little slice of heaven is definitely worth a visit, whether you're a local or just passing through Pittsburgh. Victoria Datsova captures the essence well: "One of the best bakeries in Pittsburgh,” and we couldn't agree more.

In conclusion, Espresso a mano - 5 Points Bakery is a delightful café where the love for coffee and pastry blends seamlessly. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or settling in to savor each treat, your taste buds will thank you for this wonderful discovery.

Coffee and pastries. Pastries are wonderful, baked on premises. Some premade sandwiches at lunch. My favorite independent pastry stop.

I've been a couple of times in the morning and oh man the amount of pastry they have is incredible. My mouth watered as soon as I stepped inside. Delicious! I ordered an espresso without expecting much (I'm yet to find a good espresso in Pittsburgh) and it was better than most cafes but still ok. They could make the interior (and exterior a bit better): from the outside it looks permanently closed and inside it seems like it's under construction, maybe it is but it's not very welcoming. I'd say it's best for take out. The staff members were minding their own business and weren't really welcoming. So, no, I would not be choosing this café particularly to go regularly but if I'm in the area it could do. Things might change when and if they improve the indoor space.

Great spot for baked goods and coffee -- love the new space. But, don't block in the neighbors' garage with your car. Saw someone towed within 30 seconds of leaving their car!

One of the best bakeries in Pittsburgh. You can also get delicious sweet or savory treat and sip a cup of coffee or tea while working remotely. Parking is relatively easy to find on the street. Definitely recommend!

Went in for espresso and found a bakery that was worth the wait. I got a cortado with oat milk. It was very good. We bought a couple sandwiches, a baguette, a few baked treats, and a chocolate pecan pie. We may have gone a bit overboard but it was definitely worth it. The baguette had a crispy crust and was soft, airy, and chewy on the inside, perfect. The croissants were flaky and just delicious. Highly recommended.

What a great cortado! Hey y'all, Amano's in Squirrel Hill. Ty for 396K views! Was running errands and sought a cure for my 11am caffeine needs. Espresso Amano's second location is wide, spacious, and welcoming. I got myself a Cortado in a heavy, thick walled tumbler that was great. Half milk, half espresso awards you full wakefulness. If you'd like to find a place to have an unrushed conversation, get a window seat. If you got books, there's tables in the back. That's where I sat. Pastries look great. I've been to this place since they opened in Lawrenceville a few years ago. They're consistently excellent. Btw, if you have a sensitive stomach, I feel like they're using Latin American coffees. I got a triple. Normally I can put down three of these a day, but I had to skip one. They're expanding the window counter to a wall wraparound, so there's a little construction here and there. If the owner replies and lets me know what coffee they're adding, I'll add it to this review! Stay tuned from my upcoming newsletter as I canvas Pittsburgh, bringing you quick hits for good eats.

Super friendly staff, great coffee, no Wi-Fi. Great place to talk over a coffee and pastry (they get their cookies from Dianioa's). If you're looking to study here, setup a hotspot.
